Frequently Asked Questions

These are the questions we hear from people like you. If you still have questions, talk to one of our care specialists at 877-259-9001 or contact us.

What is EEOICPA/RECA?

These are federal programs that provide compensation money, medical benefits and home care to those who qualify because of their work related illness(es). The first is the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Act and the second is the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act. Because of your work as a miner, miller, hauler or if you worked at a nuclear site, you could be entitled to benefits under these energy programs.

How do I qualify?

If you have an illness you believe was a result of your work exposures in the nuclear industry, you could be approved for benefits including medical benefits and compensation money.

What illnesses are most common among these workers?

Cancers and respiratory illnesses are most common but there are many others that qualify as well. These include but are not limited to, COPD, lung cancer, asbestosis, silicosis, and chronic beryllium disease.

Will CNS help me file a claim?

Yes. We have a whole claims department dedicated to helping you navigate the claims process.

What do I do if my claim has been denied?

We can help with that, too. Our claims department will look to see why your claim was denied and develop a plan to reopen the case. Once we establish additional evidence, we can reopen the case and work with you on getting it approved.

If I have a lawyer or authorized representative can I still use CNS?

Yes. We work in tandem with attorneys and authorized representatives nationwide and will collaborate with them on the best way to help you.

What if I have home care but would like to switch providers?

It is your right to select a home care company of your choosing. We can discuss some of the ways our patients and family caregivers say our service sets CNS apart. We are a company founded by nurses and outstanding home care is our specialty. When it comes to your health, you should never settle for a home care provider you are not fully satisfied with.

I still live a rather active lifestyle. How do I know if home care is right for me?

We want to understand and support your health goals. If wellness is your goal, an occasional nurse visit might be appropriate to keep you at your best. Partnering with CNS Cares means you are making your health a priority.
